This semester, my class for Usrah Budi is different not like in Year 1 Semester 1 from the aspect of environment and the way of learning. Before this, we can have Usrah together in a place. But now, because of pandemic COVID-19, we separate from each Usrah members and Naqibah. I feel sad because I cannot have chance to meet friends from different courses and have the good environment in sharing our thought about the religious issues from Islamic Perspectives. Right now, I started to appreciate this course because it actually help me a lot to learn Islam just in the way of sharing from Naqibah.
First Session
Our first session was via Google Meet. We need to introduce ourselves to get to know each other. Our Naqibah (Sis Nurin) also brief the course outline and tasks for this subject clearly.
Second Session
🔖 17/11/2020, 1 Rabi'ul Akhir 1442h (Tuesday)
📌 TOPIC: SOLAT
🖇️ Surah Al-Ankabut, verse 45 🖇️
“Recite what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, [genuine] prayer should deter [one] from indecency and wickedness. The remembrance of Allah is [an] even greater [deterrent]. And Allah [fully] knows what you [all] do.”
This verse emphasis the hikmah of solat/prayer. Allah has asked us to do the prayer in the most perfect manner which means we need to prepare ourselves before meeting Him in our prayer and give our whole souls when worshiping Him. This is because prayer can prohibit immorality and wrongdoing.
Prayer that is discharged perfectly restrains the doer from falling into sins and wrong, because it creates a light in the heart that prevents the perpetration of sins and guides the person to doing righteous deeds.
Besides, prayer is the remembrance of Allah and it is greater than and superior to everything. Allah knows everything you are doing. None of your actions are hidden from him and He will recompense you for them. If they are good the recompense will be good and if they are evil the recompense will be evil.
Hence, we should perform prayer sincerely and earnestly in order to achieve these goals and prevent ourselves from immoralities and indirectly that lead us to be a good Muslim in this world and the hereafter.

Fourth Session
🔖 9/12/2020, 23 Rabi'ul Akhir 1442h (Wednesday)
📌 TOPIC: FASTING/SAWM
🖇️ Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 183 🖇️
“O believers! Fasting is prescribed for you – as it was for those before you – so perhaps you will become mindful of Allah.”
Allah has ordered Muslims to fast as it has been ordered for person before them. when you are fasting, you may become mindful of Allah, protecting yourself from His punishment by doing good actions (because fasting being one of the best actions).
Therefore, fasting/sawm is not a punishment from Allah, but it can practice moderation, patience and can improve our faith and 'amal.
"Fasting is 1% of not drinking and eating, but the rest of 99% is bringing your heart and soul closer to Allah.
Task 1 (Poster)
Cleanliness is very important in Islam because Allah loves His servants who apply cleanliness. Rasulullah taught us various deeds and practices in Islam. The poster above has mention the sunnah or practices by Rasulullah in taking care of cleanliness. As a normal person, we will choose to live in clean environment and clean society. To achieve the mission, we must start practicing cleanliness in our daily life so we will stay healthy and avoided us from disease. The conclusion, we must practice cleanliness to be safe in this world and get a great reward from Allah in the hereafter.
Task 2 (Infographic)
We are assigned to make an infographic related to fasting because fasting is one of the most demanded acts of worship in Islam, especially during the month of Ramadan. We need to study in terms of virtues found in fasting from the aspect of patience, respect and friendliness. From this task, we get better understanding about the virtues of fasting in Islamic Perspectives so we can do our best to more grateful and appreciate the month of Ramadan that give many benefits to us as a human beings.
Task 3 (Experience during ERTL)
Because of COVID-19, all students include primary, secondary and tertiary school must attend the class via online learning apps such as Google meet, Google Classroom, Zoom, etc. We cannot attend traditional class as usual because it will risk us expose to the pandemic COVID-19.
I really did not think that I would attend classes online because we never have this kind of experience before. At first I was less prepared with the online class because of Internet problems, unsuitable environment to learn and study, lack of motivation, do not understand the learning and too much work loads from lecturer make me stress and feel want to stop studying. Many things need us to catch up the course outline. The learning load increases because there are no more final examination for major courses. The lecturers must change the final exam to assessments so the mark for the students will be sufficient. But at the same time, the learning loads give big impact to students when more assessments and assignments must to be submitted before the set time. It can be more stress when we do not have good environment to motivate us to seek for knowledge no matter what.
After I past my crucial time in online learning, I managed to handle this problem wisely. I become more calm down and open minded person, arrange a study schedule so that I do not miss any assignments, more ask friends if I do not understand something, and do not rush into completing a task so that the quality of the task is maintained.
Be more motivated and dedicated prompted me to finish last semester successfully. I am happy and satisfied with all my works. But unfortunately the spirit did not respond well when the CGPA dropped due to a subject that for me, I have done my best and fully focused.I take a long time to move on with it because it often interrupts my thinking. However, I did not give up trying to continue my struggle in learning. Sometimes I succeed and sometimes I fail. I must learn from these failures as a catalyst for me to move forward and succeed in the future. If I work harder and focus more in class, maybe I can maintain my performance.
When Semester 2 started, I was a little worried because the possibility for things that happened before to happen again. It hovered in my mind. But, a big thank you to family members and friends who always support and motivate me to keep working on my studies. Alhamdulillah, my learning journey this semester went smoothly. I began to understand the concept of Open Distance Learning (ODL) and calmed down to face it. I am really happy because I live in a good environment, my family who always take care of me and give moral support, my friends who are very helpful and understanding and the lecturers who always remind me the assessments those should be finished before the deadline. Besides, my expertise in ICT is very helpful to me in completing assigned tasks.
Being a student is not easy. Especially when it comes to dealing with new things that are not common to students. But we must strive and be confident in everything that happens there is wisdom behind it. God presents COVID-19 for us to appreciate more the blessings of the world that God has bestowed on us and always grateful. I learned a lot about gratitude during this ODL and I pray that this epidemic will disappear soon so that we can live life as usual. As conclusion, whatever problems we face, there must be a solution. We must ready from aspect of physical and mental so we will not stress and unmotivated.
